Masjid Jamek was built in 1908 and both the building and its surrounding compound were gazetted as national heritage. Repair works mainly involved damaged downpipes and roof covering, replacement of damaged tiles, windows, frames, brickwork as well as addition of new audio visual facilites and functional spaces. Also new carved timber minbar and quranic caligraphy were made for the main prayer hall
